How they work

Through community collaboration, the Madison Community Council has one meeting each year where community needs pertaining to its mission are discussed and analyzed.  Suggestions are then made for projects that would improve the quality of life for the children and families of Madison County.  Four committees are then assigned to examine these concerns and develop plans to accomplish goals that might meet these needs.

Committees should meet once a month to discuss how they can prioritize and accomplish these strategic issues set forth by the Madison County Community Council.   Each Committee Chairman is also responsible for certain processes inside the community council.  Thus, if certain strategic issues fall under one of the processes set out for the committee, the chairman/process owner and his/her committee over those types of issues would be responsible for developing a plan to accomplish those goals.  These Process Owners would have responsibilities such as the following:

1.      Assessing the need for programs, beginning with those suggested by the Community Council.
2.      Developing a Plan to address the need - including indicators to track the effectiveness of the plan.
3.      Implementing the plan with the assistance of committee members or others on the Council, in the community, or
      external resources.
4.  Evaluating the effectiveness of the plan through data indicators and presenting that evaluation to the Community
Council on a regular basis (at least annually).

Since the Community Council has based its mission on 12 family action values, the 4 committees have each taken 3 values to oversee.  (For example: one committee has been assigned to oversee the 3 values; Honesty, Integrity, & Obedience.)

These committees are matched up with the strategic issue that is most relevant to the 3 values they oversee.
